MIKE TWISS - Level MB Construction
"Mike has always led with people first. His heart for the community and others is unmatched." - Matt Gray, Vice President
“We have recently rolled out Coffee with Champions here at Level MB Construction. The CWC “Force for Good” concept is an extension of our culture here at Level MB and the heart of our Owner, Mike Twiss.
Since its inception, Mike has always led with people first. His heart for the community and others is unmatched.
Mike is a great boss, husband, father, and all-around great guy. Mike is the true definition of a Force for Good!”
Matt Gray - Vice President, Level MB Construction
I recently had a chance to ask Mike some questions about work, life, and family. He had some great answers!
Where do you work, Mike?
President of Level MB Construction
9 years at Level MB. I’ve been in the architecture and construction industry for over 25 years.
Tell us a little more about your work?
We strive to make an impact on our employees and clients through building great relationships.
Our mission is to Design and Build with the purpose of impacting our employees, our clients, our community, and our world for the glory of God.
What advice would you put on a billboard?
When your life is over, the only thing that really matters is whether others saw Christ work through you.
What's the best advice you've ever received?
Treat others as I would like to be treated. Putting yourself in another person's shoes allows us to understand the other person's perspective, dreams, and goals, and it gives us the ability to help them achieve these dreams.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
To travel quick as a thought. My wife and I love to travel, and to be anywhere in the world as quickly as we could think would be Awesome!!
If you could recommend a book, resource, or podcast, what would it be?
It's so hard to narrow this down to a couple. However, I would recommend the following:
Start with Why by Simon Sinek
The Gap and the Gain by Dan Sullivan
Seven Habits of Highly Effective People by Steven Covey
How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie
Tell us about your family.
We have lived in Troy for over 25 years, and my wife and I celebrated 27 years of marriage in July. We have four amazing children:
Caleb (24) is currently working at Solvita in Dayton harvesting tissue, as well as at the Tipp City Fire Department as an EMT. He will start Physician’s Assistant (PA) school at Miami University this coming May.
Ethan (22) is currently a Senior Finance Major at Miami University. He also finished up an internship with Transamerica over this past summer.
Adam (20) is currently a Junior Business Operations and Construction Management Major at the University of Cincinnati. He worked at Level MB over this past summer and is a part of the National Guard ROTC program at the University of Cincinnati.
Abigail (18) is currently a Freshman Art Major at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). She recently obtained her black belt in karate while in high school and enjoys playing intramural sports at SCAD.
We also have two dogs (Hazel and Pippa).
Do you have any interesting hobbies or fun facts about yourself?
I enjoy cycling, hiking, pickleball, and traveling.
Where do you attend Coffee with Champions?
Level MB offices in Troy
What are some words you would use to describe the Champions program?
Inspiring. I get to witness our employees engaging in topics that are truly important to our culture and their personal lives. This may sometimes not happen without the Coffee with Champions program.
What has been your most MEMORABLE workshop at CwC?
The topic of Burnout brought a great perspective for our employees, and I was encouraged to see the recommendations on how to avoid burnout in the workplace.
Is there anything you’d like to add?
I would like to thank my wife for encouraging me to be a better husband, father, friend, and leader. Next to salvation, she is the best thing that ever happened to me.
Our employees are the best in class, and they push me to become better every day.
Thank you, Lance, for Coffee with Champions. I love the mission, and I know it has influenced our employees to be a force for good.
Thank you, Mike, for being a Force for Good! You are truly making a positive impact at work, at home, and in your community.
