DON ADAMS - Mayor, City of Beavercreek, Ohio
A force for good in the Beavercreek community for more than 40 years.
“I nominate Don because he has been a force for good in our community for more than 40 years, is a Champion of champions, and works tirelessly to support a multitude of organizations, people, and causes in our area.”
- Chris McClure, McClure Coaching
Where do you work, Don?
Mayor of Beavercreek. I served on Council for 4 years; this is my first year as Mayor.
I’m also President of the Wright B Flyer and President of the Rotary of Beavercreek.
Tell us a little more about your work?
Serving the community I have lived in for many years as Mayor is an honor.
It gives me the opportunity to be invited to or attend many functions in our community and support many different activities.
I have tried to serve my community as a volunteer for many years and this allows me to be more involved with Beavercreek.
What do you want people to know about you?
We only get one shot at this life, and I think we often get so caught up in making a living that we forget to "Stop and smell the Rose".
Look for the things that will bring you joy.
What's the best advice you've ever received, and how has it impacted you?
"Get Up, Dress Up, Show Up!"
There are times you don't necessarily feel like moving forward, but if you give in to that, you will miss so many good things.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
I don't know if it is a Super Power, but I strive to make everyone around me feel important and valuable.
If you could recommend a book, resource, or podcast, what would it be?
I don't really have a book or podcast I listen to or have been impacted by.
I get my lift from being around people having discussions and sometimes just listening. That is one of the reasons Coffee with Champions is so important to me.
Tell us about your family.
My wife, Ann, and I will be married 56 years this October.
We have 3 children, 5 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren.
I also have "adopted children". These are people in my life who are very import to me.
Where do you attend Coffee with Champions?
Beavercreek Chamber of Commerce
How long have you attended?
2 years. I’m a Charter member.
What are some words you would use to describe the Champions program?
I look forward to our Thursday morning get togethers. There are several people who are consistently there and I look forward to seeing them every week. We have all become friends. I really appreciate Lance and Jessica for developing this program.
What has been your most MEMORABLE workshop at CwC?
I like the evaluation times we do about every 6 months. Even at my age, I like to see how I have grown in different areas.
Is there anything you wish to add?
Find your passion and pursue it!!
How can people get in touch with you?
Thank you, Don, for believing and supporting our program. It truly means a lot to us.
