ANTHONY BENINCASA - Shiplabi Studios
A visionary young entrepreneur and who already has a podcast studio and media company.
“Anthony is consistently at Coffee with Champions and always contributes to the conversation.
His perseverance and courage as a very young entrepreneur is admirable!” says Rick Hartley, a lead Champion facilitator.
Where do you work, Anthony?
Shiplabi Studios. I’m the owner and a video editor. I’ve been in the industry for 7 years.
Where do you attend Coffee with Champions?
Kettering Moraine Oakwood Chamber of Commerce
What are some words you would use to describe the Champions program?
I’d describe Coffee with Champions as a way to find other like-minded individuals who are trying to better themselves and their communities.
What has been your most MEMORABLE workshop at CwC?
For me, the most memorable workshop topic was about looking back to when you were 21 years old. I found myself in a unique position at that time because I was 21.
I am very fortunate to have such knowledgeable people each week to get advice from. With that week, having some advice about what people would do differently was not something I take for granted.
Tell us a little more about your work?
At Shiplabi Studios, I enjoy being able to make video podcasts that my clients can be proud of.
One of the best parts of my job is seeing both people my own age, but also older, coming into the studio and watching their faces light up.
My goal is to be able to provide a place for individuals to be able to create high quality content for their brands…being able to work with someone they can trust.
What do you want people to know about you?
I’d want people to know I have something to bring to the table.
I work very hard and have built my business for many years. I’d ask people to take a chance on me.
Sometimes, people overlook me because of my age, and I don’t take it personally. But after you get to know me, you can see I have a lot to offer.
What's the best advice you've ever received, and how has it impacted you?
I’d have to say the best piece of advice I’ve received was to not wait until you know everything to get started.
When I first started my business, I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. Most of my achievements in my business are because I took that first step.
I have friends who want to start a business but are afraid to do so because they think they need to know everything. I’m in a position to do more things because I went forward.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
I would want super speed. I’d be able to get so much more done in the day and be able to get anywhere quickly.
If you could recommend a book, resource, or podcast, what would it be?
I’d recommend reading 2 books that have made the biggest impact on my business.
The 1-Page Marketing Plan by Allan Dib
Blue Ocean Strategy by Renée Mauborgne and W. Chan Kim
Tell us about your family.
I’d like to give a shout-out to my uncle, John Donley. He has helped me with business and personal matters. He has given me great advice from his work as a CPA at DP&L.
He saw something in me years ago that not many people did. I am very grateful for him.
Is there anything else you’d like to add?
I look forward to the future of my business and can’t wait to gain more knowledge and experience from other business owners.
